Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she was in her teens. In her studies, she majored in journalism and women's studies, and was taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a time. The focus changed to music only after she finished her studies. The song My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity on the Internet in the year 2012. It eventually made it on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also contained was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The song was directly connected to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her 2015 travel guide. Alongside being a published author as well, she also worked as a singer. As well as early shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her debut EP "In Fina We Trust".
